Training in Shasta County Redding begins on Wednesday, January 10 and will be held in the CASA Center at NVCSS at 2400 Washington Avenue. Butte County training Chico begins on Thursday, February 1 and will take place at our office in Chico. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish in inappropriate group or foster homes. Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives. CASA volunteers are definitely superheroes for the work they do for these children! Download the volunteer application by visiting the NVCSS website: Application deadline for Shasta’s training is January 4; Butte’s deadline is January 27.
